Environmental Policy

From timber, to trellis, to trees

At The Garden Trellis Co., we are committed to doing our best to minimise our potential impact on the environment. We are firm believers that incorporating trellises and our other plant supports into outdoor spaces is an excellent way to promote eco-friendliness by encouraging vertical growth. Our high-quality products are not only good looking but are designed and made to last. Read on to learn more about some of the key steps we take towards sustainability.

TIMBER

The Garden Trellis Company Ltd is very aware of the impact we all have on our environment and are members of Timber Development UK. We source our timbers wherever possible from responsible sources as identified below.

These logos identify products containing a minimum of 70% timber from FSC® and PEFC compliant sources.   Buying products identified with either schemes logo helps support the growth of responsible forest management worldwide.

The majority of our pressure impregnated products are guaranteed.   Any timber damaged as a direct result of rot or insect attack will be replaced free of charge, please see the terms and conditions.

ENERGY - SOLAR AND BIOMASS

We have recently installed a large solar system to our workshop roof which will result in a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions. The peak power capability of the solar panels is 218kWp. This will reduce our reliance on The National Grid and in fact give us the opportunity to sell back some of the excess power.  Additionally, we have taken measures to optimize our production processes to consume less power, thereby further reducing our carbon footprint.

Our powerful dust extraction system which feeds our Biomass Boiler, not only makes the working environment safe but also allows us to recycle our waste timber to heat the workshops, in particular our paint shop’s drying rooms. All our painted products are placed there to cure in heat and humidity-controlled rooms.

TREE PLANTING

Our goal is to give back and help to guarantee plentiful timber for the future. To achieve this, we have made a pledge to plant one tree for every order received, whether through our online shop or bespoke service. You can find out more about this program here and add to or view the virtual forest >
