Rooftop terrage garden design

A recent project in Central London gave insight in to how a bespoke trellis and planter scheme can create a highly distinctive and desirable living area with additional privacy.

What did the client want featured on the rooftop terrace?

The original building just off Eaton Square is overlooked by other buildings, therefore the client was keen to add some privacy to the terrace using trellis on top of walls which would allow climbing plants to grow for a softer, more attractive environment.

What did we do to make this project successful?

We first undertook a site visit to discuss the ideas and vison that the client had already developed for the terrace. From this we produced an outline design and quotation to put forward to the client. Then with a second site visit we carried out a thorough survey from which we could accurately draw the scheme and offer a firm quotation and timescale.

What were the main challenges to overcome?

The terrace had uneven low walls and existing railings which made accurately levelling the planters onto the walls during installation a challenge.

What products were featured in the finished design?

The project was completed with classic trellis and a planter scheme running along the bottom of the trellis allowing planters to grow up the trellis. Each planter had a simple but very effective moulding design to the front face of each.

Although not strictly a ‘rooftop’ terrace, this unusual development gave us the opportunity to create an attractive outdoor living area on a flat roof extension from the main building.
