Timber Guide

Diamond

So, you have decided to incorporate some bespoke timber joinery into your garden, but cannot decide which material is best for your chosen product. If this is the case, this week’s blog post is a timber guide which will help guide you in the right direction to which timber is best for your project.

All of the timber we use is purchased from reputable timber merchants, which means that our wood comes from sustainable and renewable sources. We are FSC accredited, which means that we can manufacture our products with full certification if required.

Softwoods

Our European Redwood and Radiata Pine are treated with Tanalith E to ensure that the wood has greater durability.

Softwood can be used for creating a variety of different garden joinery products and work well for traditional Trellis fencing to Contemporary slatted panels and looks great either painted or left natural.

We have a variety of Softwood’s that range from;

  • Treated European Redwood
  • Treated Radiata Pine
  • Western Red Cedar (natural durable Softwood)
  • Accoya (extremely durable modified timber)

Hardwoods

Depending on the species chosen, hardwood will be stronger and more durable than softwood, and can have a lifespan of up to 25 years. We use Iroko for a large number of our products which looks great left natural, turning from hues of yellow and brown to a lovely silver grey as the wood ages and is bleached by the sun.

Extremely versatile, Hardwoods can be used for creating a large variety of garden joinery, ranging from Trellis and Slatted fencing to a range of garden furniture, planters, decking, cladding and more.

The Hardwood that we use ranges from;

  • Iroko
  • English and European Oak
