Living Walls

Diamond

Living Walls, Vertical Gardens, Green Walls… These are some of the terms used for a new re-invented craze that has come around in the world of garden and interior design, with early influences dating back to the Babylonians and the famous Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

In case you haven’t heard of it, a Living Wall is the term to describe a wall covered in plants and flowers. They are available in many different shapes and sizes and make a brilliant, contemporary feature to both indoor and outdoor décor.

Extremely versatile, they can be used for smaller, residential establishments in back gardens or a quirky addition to your home or they can be used on a large scale basis for public buildings as a central feature.

As well as being extremely eye-catching, Living Walls have many other benefits. Here’s why…

Environmentally Friendly

When living in the urban cities, it is often difficult to encourage wildlife to circulate. The plants and flowers used in a Living Wall attract bees, butterflies and birds to otherwise concrete and plain surfaces, creating a diverse and creative habitat.

As well as bringing much appreciated nature to cities, Living Walls also help reduce airborne particulate matter, Nitrogen Dioxide, and the heat island effect- keeping the air cleaner!

Energy Efficient

Living walls are often used in by Architects and can be incorporated onto the walls and also the roofs of many buildings.

Looking after the environment is a wide concern amongst many people, with many doing what they can to reduce their carbon footprint. The good news about living walls is that they help to insulate buildings, reducing energy use and heating costs.

Sound Absorbing

When living and working in an environment where there is a great deal of noise pollution, blocking out the unwanted noise is something that many people look to achieve. Incorporating a living wall into buildings and residential spaces also helps to reduce the unwanted noise through working as an insulator.
