Your garden in september

09.09.15

We don’t know about you but it feels like Summer is officially over, but that doesn’t mean the jobs in the garden stop. September is the perfect month to prepare for Spring and to get the garden ready for the Winter ahead. Here are five jobs for your garden this month.

1. Keep harvesting.

Our garden is still full of berries and vegetables and we continue to harvest the produce. Keep harvesting your bounty and if you do happen to have a glut of produce look at ways to benefit from them later; try pickling, freezing or even making jam.

2. START YOUR COMPOST

Autumn produces large quantities of garden waste. Starting a compost pile now means you will have some rich compost ready for Spring 2016.

3. PLANT SPRING BULBS

It may feel too early to be thinking about next year but most Spring bulbs are best planted now. Think about next year’s boarders and the look you are trying to achieve and plant accordingly. The preparation will be worth it when your garden is full of bright colours next Spring.

4. GET your WINTER STORAGE ORGANISED.

Have you had an open fire fitted this year? Or, is your log store too small? Install a log store to organise your seasoned logs and kindling neatly. Plus, next year you can use the log store to season logs yourselves. We have a range of ready-made log stores available in 11 different colours.

5. Preparation is key

If you’re looking to re-design your garden, add fencing or undertake any other garden design job in 2016, then there’s no better time to get in contact. We can help you plan your 2016 project. Planning your project early means that everything can be installed in the Spring and that the project is complete and ready for your enjoyment before Summer.
