Revamp your garden in time for the summer

01.05.18

If you’re considering a garden revamp in time for the summer, then we’ve got some simple but effective ideas to help create your ideal outdoor living space.

Adapt or create a comfortable dining area

We all enjoy dining outside on a warm summer’s day, and there’s no better way to do this than in the comfort of your own garden. We have moved away from just being able to buy wrought iron and wooden garden furniture, with a vast variety of materials to choose from, including rattan, cast and powder coated aluminium, plastic and even concrete, combined with cushions creates a comfortable dining experience for you and your guests. Surround with trellis or slatted panels to create an attractive decorative screen for a more secluded dining area.

Add colour to brighten up your garden

By adding colour, we mean more than just vibrant planting, although these are lovely to have too! Painted trellis and fencing can be used to brighten up your garden and stand out from the usual  natural timber. All our products can be painted in any of our paint and stain options. Manhattan Grey has proved popular, a timeless traditional grey green, perfect for a more traditional look, or you can opt for black for a contemporary sleek finish. To see our ready-made colour selection, please order our colour sample pack which has all colours painted onto slats to give an accurate representation.

Transform your existing garden bench or seating area by adding a painted finish. All our exterior paints are available to buy online or use some colourful cushions to create a comfortable relaxation area for those warm summer days.

Grow a living wall

A living wall offers vertical growth, rooting into a wall mounted structural support, they eliminate the need to need to plant into the ground leaving more room in your garden for other things! Or you could use trellis or slatted panels to encourage trailing plants, our open trellis is perfect for this, with its 70mm hole, it enables plants to grow through effectively. Climbers such as evergreen honeysuckle or winter flowering clematis will provide winter and summer coverage.

Create focal points

A timber pergola or gazebo makes a spectacular focal point, stunning planting will draw in the eye especially when used in conjunction with our wooden planters creating a striking feature in any area of your garden. A single plant such as a standard bay tree will provide a prominent focal point all year round.

Add garden lighting

You can still enjoy your garden once the sun has set with exterior lighting. If you’re on a budget, then we suggest using several solar spike lights scattered around your garden. These can be used to light up a pathway or seating area or use them inside planters to illuminate your planting schemes.

A firepit is a great way to diffuse darkness, as well as provide heat. Use alongside your outdoor seating so you can sit outside during those long summer evenings.
